Dental Bonding

Dental bonding is an alternative to porcelain veneers and can be used as a restorative procedure for teeth that are chipped, cracked, discolored or misarranged.

How does it work?

Your damaged tooth is prepared for the procedure by lightly etching its surface and applying a bonding liquid. Once the liquid sets, a plastic resin is applied and sculpted into the desired shape. The shaped resin is then trimmed, smoothed, and polished to a natural appearance.

Considerations

Dental bonding procedures can often be completed in a single visit to Comfort Dental and can dramatically improve the appearance of an unsightly tooth. Keep in mind, however, that the plastic resin used in bonding procedures isn’t as strong as your natural tooth enamel, therefore it is more likely to stain, chip, or break than your natural teeth. Because of this, bonding typically lasts three to five years before it  needs  repair.
